THE LANTERN PROJECT
The existence of a hung LANTERN -- the symbol of safe passage in the Underground Railroad -- was the sign for people experiencing slavery to find their way out of the darkness and into freedom. Today, slavery is illegal everywhere, but as a criminal enterprise, slavery has moved underground.
The BAATC exists to shine the LANTERN, to bring the light, in areas of civic involvement and entrenched systems where darkness keeps this crime hidden. Work with us to establish timely and impactful trainings in the following areas:
*Law Enforcement - The most needed intervention, trained to find and help those being exploited.
*Property Management - A primary location for housing and exploiting sex trafficking victims, especially close to public transportation.
*Hotels - A common venue for sex trafficking and possible labor trafficking among contracted hotel vendors.
Transportation - (Airports, Uber, Lyft, Public Transit) The business of slavery has victims always on the move.
Health Care - (Hospitals, ER's, Outpatient clinics) - Those who are exploited are mistreated, beaten, and abused; often needing medical care.
Delivery Services - (USPS, UPS, FedEx, Food Delivery) - Professionals working common routes who regularly see things out of the norm.
Education - Prevention of the most vulnerable from becoming exploited.
*most timely; signifies 2019-focused efforts for the BAATC.
